Supply chain optimisation
Due to the nature of how focused vendors operate, they get to know a lot of different network solutions providers. Conversely, a generic vendor, supplying network bundles, works with few other vendors. They may hamper multi-vendor network projects to maintain their monopolies on networks and keep vendors locked in.
If a focused vendor doesn’t have the solution you need, they will likely know a good supplier. Also, it’s in their interests to recommend the best third-party suppliers to maintain their relationships.
Engaging with focused vendors to identify suitable third-party vendors can optimise CSPs’ supply chains, protecting them against threats. On the other hand, generic vendors will likely try to push one of their products, even if it’s expensive or isn’t the best fit for that network. Again, having a single vendor supply chain can greatly increase supply chain risks in the event of a hack or network failure.
