Mobile network operators in small states and big states face the same network challenges. However, smaller state operators also deal with many additional obstacles specific to the nature of small states.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Every year since 2000, these operators have met to discuss and workshop matters in the telecoms industry that impact their smaller states. While it is a small event, only attended by a select specialist group of industry leaders, it is also one of the most important on the telecoms calendar.<\/p>\n

The various geographies of island groups and mountainous areas and the revenue potential of low populations in small states further complicate existing industry issues like monetising 5G, closing connectivity gaps, and multi-generation networks. So, big operators are often interested in learning how these issues are dealt with so they can implement the solutions, potentially risk-free, in their situations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\"Lichtenstein\"<\/p>\n

This year, the event was held in, Vaduz, in Liechtenstein, which has a population of 6,000 people at most. In addition to its Alpine geography, Liechtenstein is one of the smallest states in Europe, yet it had a GDP per capita nearly three times as large as the United States of America in 2021.<\/p>\n

The venue is a clear example of an operator managing to achieve huge success by embracing its small status and coming up with innovative answers to tricky situations, like disbanding its 80-person army in 1868 and declaring neutrality, which helped it avoid the fate of other European nations during both world wars.<\/p>\n

It was a fitting location and an excellent event, and we\u2019re delighted that our CEO, Sanjeev Verma, was able to meet and address such a unique section of the global telecommunications industry.<\/p>\n
