Sitting at the edge of the network is the SVI-DEA providing enhanced security for authorisation, authentication and subscriber policy across Diameter based LTE networks.

Within the Diameter network is the Diameter Edge Agent.

The Diameter Edge Agent’s primary function is to provide network security for the secure exchange of the authentication, authorisation and subscriber policy.

Out of the box the SVI-DEA provides topology hiding, message normalisation, DOS and DDOS protection whilst also delivering load balancing and congestion control functionality.

The Diameter Signalling Controller deploys advanced Diameter Edge Agents for tighter security and normalisation providing:

  • Topology Hiding
    A security function implemented in the application layer whereby Diameter identity information from all messages leaving a local Realm are concealed.

  • Security
    Out of the box the DEA provides topology hiding, DoS and DDoS protection while delivering load balancing and congestion control.

  • Message Screening
    All traffic into the network goes via the DEA where message screening determines who enters the network and from where.

  • Admission Control
    Full configuration in terms of protocol compliance and custom policy setup, filtering, comparison to whitelists & blacklists, throttling and message manipulation.

  • DoS, DDoS Protection
    The DEA protects Diameter servers and the network from overload and signalling storms brought on by DoS and DDoS attacks.

  • Transport over TLSPSecn
    IPSec and Transport Layer Security allow for intra-realm security providing advanced encryption between endpoints.

  • Onboard Firewall
    The Edge Agents onboard Diameter firewall protects the network and subscribers from privacy leaks and denial of service attacks.

  • Overload Protection
    Provides advanced load balancing and throttling mechanisms to insure the optimum management of the Diameter network.

  • Message Normalisation
    The DEA acts as a mediation platform ensuring the normalisation of messages across the Diameter network.
