MWC Barcelona 2024 – AI, 5G, the usage gap and more

Squire Technologies at MWC Barcelona 2024

A fantastic MWC Barcelona 2024 has come to an end. We had a wonderful conference, meeting with many partners, customers, and new contacts. We also witnessed new technological innovations over the four-day event. Loads of robots, wearable devices, and even a personal transport drone were on display.

Several sensational new devices and ideas erupted into the collective consciousness at the conference, but many of them came with challenges that operators will have to deal with. For example, while AI and 5G present numerous opportunities, there are substantial energy consumption and network capacity concerns to manage.

One issue that endures from year to year is the usage gap. While 95% of the global population is covered by a mobile network, over three billion people are still unconnected. We discussed the challenge with many of our partners and customers and were pleased to explain how we’ve solved the usage gap in various global regions.

We also enjoyed a couple of media interviews with Isabelle Paradis from Hot Telecom and Akim Ben from TechAfrica News. The interviews, which cover the need for flexible core network solutions and network challenges in Africa, will be available to watch soon.

There are too many challenges for operators to handle on their own, so it is essential to embrace partnership-working between operators, tech developers, and regulators. Partnership-working is central to Squire Technologies, and we were glad to have the opportunity to meet with so many people and discuss how the industry can work together to deliver this magnificent transformation that societies are undergoing.

We cannot wait till next year to do it all again.
